Happy Monday all! Hope you have all had a lovely couple of weeks and managed to stay dry over the weekend. What a change, hopefully the sun will come back soon.
The last couple of weeks have been filled with my usual pilates, physiotherapy, riding and a few little trips out. I have been to Stanmore hospital for a long awaited MRI on my left shoulder and scapula has I have been having a lot of trouble with that shoulder for a long time now. I have been struggling with pain and limited movement in some directions which is very frustrating, especially as my shoulders need to be so well looked after. Looking forward to finding out the results of that.
We had a lovely day out at Yeovil show a couple of weekends ago, Blossom is getting used to these day trips now and all the dogs. She acts all tough but runs away and just wants to ride around on my lap. It was lovely to go and see the all the different food and drink stands and watched a bit of showing. There was a brilliant stand showing off the ‘Cyclo-Ssage’ therapy system. This is a medically approved system that uses cycloidal therapy with Infrared heat. I was very interested to try this and learn about its uses. It works by using 9 cycloidal therapy units and 6 infrared heat lenses to help alleviate secondary symptoms of a variety of health conditions. It helps things such as Back pain, Osteoporosis, Spinal flexibility, Oedema by helping circulation, stress, Fibromyalgia, Shoulder stiffness and instability, MS and more. After trying this out the feeling I got after was lovely, my whole body felt it had a massive boost. The Cyclo-Ssage system is designed for home use and is also portable and works off 12 volts, which is fantastic. I am really looking forward to getting this as I believe it will really help me with the issues that I have and therefore increase my performance.
We took Diamanti for a lesson with Nina last week. Aimee started off working her in and then had some guidance from Nina. Diamanti was very well behaved in the different arena. They were working on getting Diamanti quicker off the aids and pushing through from behind. She can be a little bit fussy sometimes as an evasion so its just to ignore her and getting her working more from behind then she does stop. We had to throw me on again which is always entertaining but I have to say we are getting very good at it. Whilst the team were adjusting the stirrups for me Diamanti really tested me out and did a proper pony club shake. Well we survived it!! Everyone was next to me anyway but everyone went to grab a leg. We all had to laugh, we having been waiting for that day.
It was my first time riding her in an outdoor arena which is more daunting for me than her as there are more things to look at. She was listening to me so much and wasn’t paying attention to anything else. I am still getting used to the new saddle and using stirrups again. I definitely feel in better balance with this saddle and sit better in it. When trotting my legs from the knee down swing freely but with Diamanti its too much as her trot is bigger so this is why I need stirrups now. We now just need to secure them to help stop the swinging.
The next day riding we took a massive step forward with her. At the end of the session I walked Diamanti around all on my own. Aimee stayed next to me at first just for safety and then worked her way further away. This is a huge step of trust between us and I could not stop smiling I was so so happy. The bond we have made is so special and I feel so lucky to have found this lovely horse.
Hope you all have a lovely week!
